About Scottish renewables

Scotland has some of the largest renewable energy resources in Europe, particularly wind, wave and hydro-power. The Scottish Government has funded the Scottish Community and Household Renewables Initiative to help realise this potential and demonstrate to both individuals and whole communities the direct benefits of these resources. The grant scheme was launched in 2003 and is worth £3.7 million over three years.

SCHRI assists the development of community renewable projects via specialist SCHRI Development Officers who provide expertise and developing networks to drive projects forwards. Development Officers signpost communities to UK, and specifically Scottish funding sources and advise on relevant legislative, planning and technology issues to ensure maximum project success.
